On Sunday, Dec. 17, Shelton Police arrested 72-year-old Anthony Grillo of Shelton and charged him with enticing a Minor, and criminal attempt at sexual assault.
Shelton Police Det. Christopher Nugent said the arrest stems from an incident that occurred at the Shelton Walmart on Sunday.
Nugent said the department was notified by an organization that travels throughout the US and exposes individuals meeting up with juveniles for sex.
At Walmart, officers were informed by members of the organization that they confronted Grillo, who arrived at Walmart to meet up with who he believed was a 13-year-old juvenile female for sexual acts, Nugent said.
During the investigation, it was determined that Grillo had been communicating with a female, he believed to be 13 on Facebook and the Telegram communication app dating back to Nov.
On Sunday, Grillo arranged to meet who he believed was the young girl at the Walmart located in Shelton. When he arrived, he was confronted by the organization who then contacted the Shelton Police Department, Nugent said.
Grillo was held on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing with additional arrests expected.
